X.________ appealed against the St. Gallen administrative court's decision concerning the revocation of his licence to practise, but then withdrew the appeal by filing of 26 April 2011. The Federal Supreme Court therefore struck the case from its docket in written proceedings and decided not to charge court costs. Notification was ordered to the appellant, the cantonal health department, and the cantonal administrative court.
Withdrawal of the appeal; striking off the case as moot in the absence of a live request for adjudication; no court costs where the court expressly waives them in the dispositive part. The court need not rule on the merits once the appeal is withdrawn (consid. 1).

Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.

Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird dem Beschwerdeführer sowie dem Gesundheitsdepartement und dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons St. Gallen schriftlich mitgeteilt.

Whether the federal appeal should be struck off after withdrawal
The proceedings were struck off because the appellant withdrew the appeal.
Once the appeal was withdrawn, there was no longer a need for a merits decision and the case had to be removed from the Court's docket.
Whether court costs should be charged
No court costs were imposed.
The order expressly waived the collection of court costs following the withdrawal.
